No liquids in hand luggage December 17, 2006

I have heard several reports from people who had to throw away their aftershaves, shampoos, lens fluids, etc. before boarding the plane. It appears that the authorities are serious about enforcing the rule of not taking liquids in your hand luggage. You are allowed to bring bottles of less the 100ml. Any bottle bigger than that, even when there’s only little bit of liquid left in there, must be thrown away. So make sure to put your toiletries in your check-in luggage.

There’s more. You can’t bring more liquid in little bottles in your hand luggage that can be put into a 1 litre plastic bag. In fact, you have to put it in a transparent plastic bag for the customs officer to see what’s in it.

It’s ok to bring it on the plane, but make sure it’s in a bottle that’s less than 100ml. If not, the will throw it in the trash. And if you would be bringing more bottles, all of them together cannot be more than you can fit in a 1 liter bag. The bag must be transparent, so that you can show it to the security people.
